Recently, i was in Mombasa for a night and i decided to visit the streets to experience the diverse Swahili street snacks.

Being the month of Ramadhan, there was an array of snacks along the roadside which included Mshikaki (skewers), Tende (dates), Madafu (Coconut Milk), Kibibi, Vitumbua (i really loved this one), Bhajia, Kebab, mkate wa sinia, mkate ya tambi and Mitai among many others.

I had much fun doing my own version of Kufuturu ama ukipenda kufungua kinywa (breaking fast).

This is “Taj Mahal” opposite Mombasa market on Digo road.
